About the ASEAN Peatland Media Award
The ASEAN Peatland Media Award honour individuals or journalists for their reporting on peatlands that covers sustainability, biodiversity, community livelihood and environmental issues in Southeast Asia region. The competition aims to raise awareness of issues and challenges in peatland management or bring success stories of government action and grassroots effort in peatland conservation in ASEAN countries to the public’s attention. The award is organised by the ASEAN Secretariat and Global Environment Centre (GEC) with the support from the IFAD/GEF-ASEAN Peatland Forests Project (APFP) and of EU-SEApeat Project to promote sustainable management of peatlands in Southeast Asia.
Any articles, writings and reports which has been published between 1st Jan 2013 to 31th Dec 2013 in any form of media that are accessible to public is welcomed for submission. Submissions can cover any peatland related subject, ranging from ecological to socio-economic, which has general significance to the ASEAN community including peatland fire and haze, scientific research/discovery, peatland and climate change, deforestation and land degradation, biodiversity conservation, community livelihood on peatland, economic and sustainability of peatland development etc.
Who Should Participate?
Individuals based in Asean who are interested in environmental issues and had their writings/coverage published in any form of media eg. electronic, print and broadcast

Duration
1st January 2013 – 31st December 2013.
Online submission starts from 1st April 2013 at www.aseanpeat.net.
Deadline of submission: 31st March 2014.
