JAKARTA, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Thursday that the country planned to adopt measures to tackle the possible impact of El Nino on the country.

Some areas of the country were predicted to suffer from the coming late of rainy season for about one month, but as a whole, Indonesia would not get serious impact of the weather pattern as the country would have a wet season soon.

"There are some areas that would be late in the commencement of rainy season, in South Sumatra and Maluku, which can cause drought," the president said.

Among the steps to be taken were maintaining the food resilience and farm cultivation and providing financial supports, Susilo said.

"We are ready when El Nino disturb our agriculture," he said.

The president asked the State Logistic Agency (Bulog) to maintain the stock of rice at least above the level of 1.5 million tons. On July, the stock of rice is 2.6 million tones, he said.

The president said other steps to be taken include using of crop variety which can survive in dry weather, the usage of peat land and drainage management.
