Title: German Professor Shows Interest on Researching Peatland in Ciamis

Farhan said that this expert comes as attendance of that national discussion. Aside of attending the event for 4 days in Bandung, he also plans to visit the location of Peatland in Ciamis area.

Farhan added that he doesn’t really know the exact the location of peatland area mentioned by the German Expert. He plans to visit the area on this Friday. Exactly after the discussion that is participated by 50 national and international experts with all the stakeholders and policy makers.

“From our conversation, he mentioned that he got the information about the peatland in Ciamis , around 3000 hectare, he will check it out” said Farhan.

He stated that the location is around the river stream of River Citanduy, which is prone to floods.

Meanwhile, the 50 national and international experts Policy and peatland will attend the International Indonesia Peatland Conversation (IIPC), in Padma Hotel, Bandung, 25-28 February 2013.

“The meeting and this dialog in Bandung will identify the challenges and opportunities to implement the policy that can support the GHG emissions reduction through an effective peatland Management”, he said.

According to Farhan, this dialogue will enunciate the priority needs in developing continuous policy for sustainable peatland managementt. This International Dialogue participated by national and international experts are facilitated by the DNPI and Indonesia Climate Change Center (ICCC).

“This IIPC dialogue is a discussion forum to increase the knowledge and awareness on what is needed by Indonesia to achieve the GHG emission reduction target of,” said Farhan.

Moreover, Farhan Helmy mentioned that the activity that is held for four days will discuss important matters, including Peatland management such as elements to be considered for effective Peatland management. Other than that the discussions will presents some learning process from the examples of science based policy.

Furthermore, the dialogue will also identified the problems and opportunities in depth, primarily for climate change mitigation from Peatland, and action plan to develop the agenda that can be done in the near future.
