Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Transportation Minister Hatta Radjasa has said the National Defence Forces (TNI), state shipping company PT Pelni and private shipping firms are ready to deploy their respective ships if flight frequencies are reduced due to haze in the next post-fasting festivities.

With the measure, the Indonesian transportation services will remain strong to carry more than 30 million people who will make trips by different transporation means during the Muslim`s post-fasting festivities, the minister said here Wednesday night.

"PT Pelni has enough ships. Private shipping companies have a lot of vessels. The TNI Commander has also said the TNI is ready to deploy its ships," the minister said.

According to the minister, it is also possible that the flight frequencies will not be reduced but diverted to other areas which are not hit by haze.

However, the minister said he was optimistic that airline companies would not reduce their flight frequencies as the haze was expected to have been overcome within the next one or two weeks.

"I am optimistic that the haze will be overcome as rains will fall soon," he said.
