Description: Fire crews tackling a moorland fire in the Peak District National Park are returning to the area for another day.

Fire crews tackling a moorland fire in the Peak District National Park are returning to the area for another day.

Around one square mile of moor on Bleaklow Mountain is affected and the fire has burned deep into the peat.

Water is being pumped from a remote Peak District stream and a helicopter was deployed to fly in thousands of litres from a valley reservoir.

On Thursday evening at least 50 acres of heather and peat was still burning, the fire service said.

Five fire crews will use a variety of methods to fight the fire, including hose reel jets, a fire spokesman said.

Both park and fire officials have warned people to take care with fires and cigarettes in the Peak District during the dry, hot weather.

Moorland in the Peak District National Park is closed to walkers as a result of the fire risk, but public rights-of-way remain open.
