The international symosium took place on 22nd September 2005, followed by the international workshop on 23rd-24th September, 2005. The latter addressed key topics of biodiversity, fire, poverty and water management in break-out groups which also focussed on action planning for the implementation of restoration and wise use activities.
Participants included international and Indonesian peatland scientists, government agencies and ministries, local government policy makers and decision makers, Non Governmental Organisations, the private sector and local communities.
A Statement was adopted at the final plenary session to send to the Governor of Central Kalimantan and relevant Indonesian Agencies and Ministries.
